WeAreMarsha, is a recruiting service dedicated to providing recruiting solutions for fast-growing tech companies of every size, ranging from early-stage startups to big corporations. As a recruiting business, we are on a mission to close the diversity gap in the tech ecosystem by dismantling systemic barriers for historically marginalized communities, including but not limited to: trans, queer BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour), gender non-conforming talent, enabling access to employment, education and career opportunities in the tech ecosystem.
1. Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion and Equity:
We are committed to supporting and training employers to create an inclusive and equitable workplace that embraces, empowers, and celebrates the LGBTQIA + BIPOC talents. So should our Employers and Business Partners. However, our business partners, employers, and/or members of our community or temporary contractors should pledge to honor and respect each individual’s unique experiences, intersecting identities, and perspectives.
2. Discrimination, Harassment or Assault of any form:
Discrimination, harassment, and assault of any kind will not be tolerated within our organization and/or while recruiting candidates via our recruiting services or simply while benefiting from our business services. This includes but is not limited to discrimination based on gender identity, gender expression, race, dress code, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, religion or nationality.
When hiring talents from historically marginalized communities through our platform, your company should comply with our Code of Conduct and be aware that discrimination of any sort will not be tolerated. This means there will be legal consequences for companies and business partners which do not comply with our code of conduct agreement
Forms of harassment include but are not limited to:
●Verbal: unwelcome jokes, slurs, negative stereotyping, or remarks about someone’s color, physical characteristics, appearance, nationality or religious beliefs.
● Visual or written: offensive pictures, emails, notes, or any other written or graphic material that denigrates or shows hostility or aversion toward an individual because of their race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, age or physical state.
● Decisions: making judgements based not on ability or suitability, but instead allowing bias to influence and prejudice a decision.
3. Creating a safe(r) and inclusive spaces for your hire:
Employers should create a safer and more inclusive workspace where every employee feels safer enough to bring their authentic selves to work without fear of discrimination or mistreatment; this extends to diverse talents from the trans and queer BIPOC community. We, therefore, encourage employers to conduct open dialogues, active listening, empathy in all interactions, and allyship training within the organization.
Note: Business partners/employers in need of training or educational support on topics related to gender language usage, hiring, and working with diverse talents from the trans and queer BIPOC community, have the duty to let us know in advance before benefiting from our hiring services. The safety of our hires will always come first place for us. Therefore, we are glad to offer Allyship training should your organization need to.
4. Empowering and Amplifying trans and queer BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ BIPoC voices in the workplace:
We recognise the importance of amplifying the voices of our trans and queer BIPOC talents and new hires at the workplace. Therefore, when hiring more trans and queer BIPOC tech talents, employers should be truly committed to their DEI strategies by providing safer, inclusive, equal career opportunities for underrepresented coworkers.
5. Misconduct behavior, violation and reporting:
If you have witnessed inappropriate behavior (incl. micro-aggressions), or suspicious activity that goes against our Code of Conduct policy, you should immediately report it to us. Failing to report a discriminatory behavior means you are violating our Code of Conduct and may lead to legal penalty.
Discriminatory behavior will lead to legal consequences. A violation of the agreed upon Code of Conduct may implicate not only the expulsion from our platform and all recruiting services but also a breach of contract with no financial consequences for the service provider.
NOTE: It goes without saying that this Code of Conduct is as well applicable for our own staff members, founders, co-founders, advisory board members, temporary service providers (e.g. freelancers, event partners) community partners.
